Laura & Andrew Wedding - Elbow Beach, Bermuda


Andrew and Laura had the dream wedding. The weather was beautiful, the location stunning, every detail meticulously planned by Bermuda Bride, and best of all, they were promising to share the rest of their lives with the other. But it wasn't always so which made the day that much sweeter. The couple chose "Bless the Broken Road" as their first dance song, for the road to this happy day was a very long and bumpy one but the day the two met, it became clear that that difficult road had been a blessing in disguise.



Laura's hair was styled by Jennat at Amenities at Newstead, and her make up was done by Jana at Strands.



Petals did an amazing job with the wedding day flowers, especially Laura's bouquet. They were exactly as she had hoped, and she asked for the photos of her grand parents to be pinned to the ribbons of the stem to remind her that although they were no longer with her, they were there on the day in spirit.


These two little sugar poppets were the flower girls - cousins and bffs and just edible in their sweet little dresses with wands - just love kids in weddings. Sydney, on the right, is the bride's daughter and is four, and Kyra, also four, the bride's niece. They cooled out on the sofa while the chaos of the others getting ready buzzed on around.


This is Brandon, who is the bride's son. He is 15 and looked so dapper in his wedding outfit.








For Laura, other than marrying the man of her dreams, her son giving her away was the most precious moment of the day. They have been through so much together and to have his blessing of her marriage with Andrew, and for him to to share this journey with her is something she will never forget.


Laura and Andrew chose the Lido complex at Elbow Beach for the beauty of the location and because it was a perfect setting for everything from getting ready, ceremony, photos and reception. The stunning ceremony site was on the Marina Terrace.




During the service, the pastor asked the parents of Andrew and Laura if the couple had their blessings, encouragement, and if they accepted their chosen partners into their lives. It was a lovely way to make the marriage about more than just the couple, but about the entire family.



He also asked Brandon if his mother had his blessing in her choice to marry Andrew, and asked Andrew if he accepted Laura's two children into his life. I just loved this - so intimate and personal, and acknowledging the fact that this marriage was going to change the lives of the kids as much as it would the couple.



The couple's wedding bands were identical plain platinum bands - they wanted something simple and the fact that they were the same just emphasised the unity between them.





A proper family at last - how beautiful they are.









When Andrew proposed, the love birds were staying at Cambridge Beaches for the weekend for a couple's getaway. After a relaxing afternoon at the spa and just before their last dinner there, Andrew in his usual eloquent style blurted out the question with a ring in his hand. Needless to say, Laura was completely caught unaware, but after the initial shock wore off, the answer was a resounding yes!









After making full use of all the Elbow Beach property had available for the couple shots, the newlyweds headed back down to join their guests at their cocktail reception.


Sydney was very happy to have Andrew back at the party and leaped into his arms for a snuggle.



Steve Crawford played the classical guitar.


The dinner reception was inside the Lido restaurant over looking the beach.




The candle was in memory of Laura's aunt, her father's older sister, who passed away on 1st May. She was the eldest of the four siblings to pass on and the candle was honouring her life and keeping her spirit with the family on that happy day.


The cake was made by Lido and each tier was a different flavour. When Andrew and Laura first started dating, they discovered their mutual love for chocolate - especially orange and chocolate. Their tiers were chocolate sponge cake with orange cream filling on the bottom, the second tier was a marble sponge cake with hazelnut cream filling, and the top tier was a red velvet sponge cake with strawberry cream filling. Yum!






I loved that the children had a room of their own. There were lots of activities planned, paper on the table to draw on and movies to watch - they could make noise and move around and not get in any trouble, but they were right next door to their parents and could pop out whenever they wishes - so thoughtful and well done.




Some very last minute speech writing by the best man only moments before he had to speak!



And the two (plus two) lived happily ever after... xxx
