Bermuda Wedding - Fairmont Southampton: Elizabeth & John

John surprised Elizabeth with a trip to the Bahamas for what she thought was just a spectacular Christmas gift. But that romantic holiday magnified its intensity when John popped the question in the middle of the surf after a walk on the beach. It only seemed natural that the couple would want to seal their vows with a destination beach reception, especially since Elizabeth had always dreamed of having an Island wedding. Bermuda was an easy choice for the couple. They had both holidayed in Bermuda with their families when they were young and they all had very fond memories of the Island, and the Fairmont Southampton, or should I say, the Southampton Princess, which it was when they last visited.

The couple were married at St Michael's in Paget.

Something old - her bracelet was a bridesmaid gift from her cousin, new was the dress, borrowed was her sister in law's pearl necklace, and her oh-so fabulous shoes were blue!

Elizabeth's hair and makeup was done at the Willow Stream Spa, located within the hotel.

Elizabeth's ring was custom designed in platinum. John picked out the centre stone and his mother generously added the two side stones from her own collection.

The bride's dress was a Marisa wedding gown made from silk organza with touches of French Alencon lace detailing.

Adore all their friends and family looking on, and below the shadows are so fun.

I am quite in love with these next two images.

The cocktail and dinner receptions were held on the terrace of the Ocean Club overlooking the beautiful beach and western shoreline.

Elizabeth's favourite colours are all shades of blue like the ocean so this became the theme and colours for the event.

Elizabeth's father (below, second from the left) is one of seven siblings. The family has been blessed with many long marriages. Her father and mother were celebrating their 35th anniversary that week. Also celebrating monumental anniversaries were her Uncle Skeets and Carol their 40th, Uncle Bob and Jan 39th, Joanne and Kevin 37th and Steve and Ava 25th. And can you imagine - all of them honeymooned in Bermuda! And then the uncle on the far right is a bishop from Chicago and he flew in to co-celebrate the wedding mass with Father Joseph who filled in for Father Vladimere (who was in Rome!) at St. Michael's in Paget.

The ever amazing Kay-Annie of Kreative Koncepts coordinated the day and every detail to perfection.

I always love how the bustling of the dress becomes a huge palaver as all the maids and mums try to figure out which ribbon ties to which - it seems to take an engineering degree to figure some of these designs out but in the end, it is always such a clever transformation and I am always impressed.

John and Elizabeth's first dance was to "Beyond the Sea" which they thought was highly appropriate for the location.

Elizabeth and her father had a touching dance to "The Way You Look Tonight", and John and his mum smiled and cuddled through their dance to "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You".

The Fairmont made the three tiered cake with John and Elizabeth's monogram adorning the top tier. The turquoise swirls matched the rest of the blues of the day and inside was a delectable vanilla with hazelnut cake.
