Jo & Nigel Wedding - The Reefs, Bermuda


Despite Nigel having been brought up in Bermuda, and Jo in the UK, the two ended up at the same university. But that is not where the pair met and fell in love. It wasn't until eight years later, living on the other side of the globe, that the two met in Australia and realised they had countless friends in common. The couple first visiting Bermuda together in August last year and of course Jo fell madly in love with the Island where Nigel had spent his youth. So it only made sense to have a destination where friends from the UK, Australia, the US and Bermuda could all converge in one place for a week long celebration, catching up with family and friends in one of the most beautiful places on earth.



Jo's hair and makeup were done at the Fairmont Southampton. 




I always slip behind these containers on the hotel property to a pretty green area for photos, and on the way, we found this fabulous old wicker dressing table. I just thought is made such a funky image, as do the containers when juxtaposed with the beautiful bride.


Jo's sister and mother had helped her dress and were excited to celebrate the nuptials.



Jo's dress was designed my Maggie Sottero. Her something old was also her borrowed and her blue - a heart ease Pansie from a necklace - it had belonged to her maternal grandmother who Jo sadly never had the chance to meet. Her new was only for Nigel to see!!



 The exquisite flowers were designed by Gimi - their work is always creative and elegant.



Jo popped back to her room to freshen up before the ceremony and to have a quick snack - her signature Kit Kat bar.


Nigel was waiting up in the main hotel in the cool while the minister was delayed in traffic.


Jo's ring was designed by Larson and was already selected about six months before the pair were even engaged. When Nigel did finally pop the question, they two were in the Hunter Valley wine region just outside Sydney for the weekend. Nigel had booked an apartment close to their favourite restaurant with the plan to tandem bike ride there. What Nigel hadn't realised was that the road leading to the restaurant was closed off and private so instead of a leisurely 3 bike ride in tandem, it became a 14 km trek each way. After Nigel proposed and they cycled home (stopping off for breaks to sip bubbly along the way), Jo passed out from exhaustion - or at least that is what she claims - perhaps it was the sheer excitement of finally being officially engaged to the love of her life!




Veneet was one of the couple's many friends from university whom they discovered they had in common. He acted as both Best man and Man of Honour on the day for the couple.


Jo and Nigel thought the setting at The Reefs was stunning and the pair found Kathleen of Event Solutions so friendly and chilled out, and she knew exactly what the two were after on the big day.





This is one of those kisses that just makes me swoon - so romantic and full of glee at finally being married and such passion - love love love!




















These two were such troopers lying in the sand for me, but luckily my lovely assistant, Lana, was there to help dust off the bride.



The cocktail reception was held just above where the ceremony took place at Caso's Point.



Jo and Nigel were thrilled that over 40 friends and family were able to fly in from all over the world and even more chuffed when the majority of the men got into the traditional island spirit by sporting Bermuda shorts on the big day.


Jo's sister had twin boys and they were the kings of the dance floor during cocktails.


The underside of Jo's dress had seen better days, but so worth it as she looked like and angel and spent more time enjoying her special day than worrying about her dress - the sign of a happy bride.






The dinner reception was held at the upper terrace at the Ocean Echo restaurant  and the setting was stunning.







Jo and Nigel - I wish you both the best in your new journey together. May your lives be as richly blessed as you were on your wedding day. xx
