Jon & Suzette

Jon and Suzette first met in 1998 while working aboard a small ship that was sailing around the Caribbean, Central and northern South America. They fell in love in the close living quarters, never more than 180 feet apart. They lived, worked, relaxed, slept and ate on the boat, with the smell of the salt air infusing their love with the taste of the sea. While in the throes of the chaos of planning a big traditional wedding, the couple suddenly realised that what they really wanted was to escape to the ocean and just be the two of them again, the way it was in the beginning. After an impulse comment, the couple decided to elope to Bermuda immediately. They had been visiting our shores on and off since 2004 and having seeing all the Caribbean had to offer, they both felt nothing compared to what they had found in Bermuda. The beauty and serenity of the island, its beaches and its people all made for the perfect location to sneak away and be married.

The two were wed on the cliff top overlooking Warwick Long Bay. As always, Pastor Dean Smith gave an intimate and moving ceremony.

The rings came from the groom's Uncle John, who is a custom jeweler.

Having proposed on the top of Rockefeller Center on a warm night in November in 2006, this little piece of paper saying the deed was now official was a good thing to hold at last.

I am so smitten with these fennel flowers - they only bloom for a short time, but I am always so excited to convince reluctant clients that it will be worth it in the end! And for sure these shots were worth climbing in there!

Even decided Suzette needed to complete her bridie look with a fragrant bouquet of the fabulous blooms.

Jon and Suzette - I do so adore elopements and all the intimacy and tenderness of being just the two of you. Thank you for including me in your private day and for allowing me to capture your love on your favourite island. Happy trails in your sweet little home on the water. xxx
